Although I have been working on my family history since 1972, I learned that I have really only been skimming through the records and I have the "Cliff Notes" version. I plan to start over with myself as described today to verify resources and otherwise make sure I have a correct and truthful genealogy. This Retreat was wonderful! I could have gone on for at least 3 more days! I learned there are so many resources I have been completely unaware of! The city tour was very informative. I loved finding out from you the order we should do our research in. Who knew research could be efficient! Thank you so very much--

This has been an amazing experience. It has turned my research ideas upside down. Looking for families makes so much more sense than looking for individuals. Realizing that I need to find all the evidence available to be positive that I have the right person. Plus I have learned so many new sources and websites. I can't wait to get started again. Thank you soooo much!

Despite being called a "Retreat," this was an intense mentoring experience and among the top educational opportunities that I have had as a genealogist. By noon Monday, I had gotten my money’s worth! It has saved me months—if not years—of independent study. To hear leaders in the field talk about best practices and then apply them the same day at the Family History Library--with real-time guidance from the same experts--is unparalleled. I highly recommend that all of you who are intermediate or advanced genealogists check out their offerings.

Whoever said, "Family History is Easy!" didn't have my ancestors.

Genealogy Retreat in Colby: Useful strategies and tools were presented for ensuring that your genealogy results are accurate. Otherwise, too many falsehoods are generated as is unfortunately evidenced in too many publications.

I've been doing family research since the 70s but through each session of teachings I learn new ways to search for records on my family. Holly & Arlene have a wealth of experience & knowledge of all areas of research in the U.S. & around the world.

I am constantly learning new things about how to research and new places to go for researching. I never seem to run out of ways to improve on my techniques. You are never too old to learn new tricks.

This Retreat has changed the way I will research. I can't wait to get back to my genealogy and use everything I have learned.

What a wonderful Retreat. Even though I live in Colby, I found many things that Colby had to offer that I did not know were available. This information will be a huge help in my genealogy research. Our instructors were the Best!

I totally agree with you re: the benefits of attending a FH Retreat/Seminar and did attend the one held in Houston in 2012 which, by the way, was fantastic. My request is that you please, please, schedule another one somewhere here in Texas. Many of my friends that attended the previous one echo my request as well. Thanks for your consideration.

Arizona Family History Expo 2013 Was a very informative Expo all of you put on in Mesa. What a lot of work!!! I really enjoyed it and learned SO MUCH. First one I've ever attended and it was a fun experience. I realized what a "beginner" I am compared to so many people there...but I am not discouraged. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know that for me the event was better than I imagined.
    ... Thanks, Wilma
First and foremost, thank you for a wonderful exposure to the many facets of genealogy. I really felt emersed in the many activities that took place. I'm hoping to be able to attend another conference "down the road."

I had the opportunity to go to the week-long Family History Expo's Salt Lake Retreat this past week. It was the most awesome experience! There was one-on-one help with the top genealogy researchers at the LDS Family History Library; for a genealogist, it was a dream come true. Holly and the researchers are so knowlegeable and have so much information, and they can answer any question about where to look to break down your brick wall. It was amazing what they know and the help and advice they gave was priceless. It is one retreat that is truly worthwhile for all levels of genealogists.

A number of years ago on our way back to Utah, we broke down in Colby, Kansas, and had to remain there for three days while a part was shipped for our vehicle. The Prairie Museum and environs are fabulous! I don't have roots in Kansas, but even from an American History standpoint, this is one of the better areas--though small--to get a taste of prairie life. The LDS Branch there (we were stranded over a weekend) was a great experience! Wish you luck on your retreat!

Fourteen years with Family History Expos has been a pleasure. We have had many challenges along the way, as is expected. The beauty, friends, and magnificent experiences we've enjoyed have truly exceeded our expectations.
