Learn to Document and Use Family Traditions
Presenter: Ruth E. Maness, AG
It is said there is a kernel of truth in every family story. In this class new skills will be taught to help you decide if that kernel is 10 generations removed from the facts or just a census search away. Information on how to organize and separate fact from fiction in family lore will be detailed. Learn how to use the pieces of information you gather to create research goals and then search them out, one by one.
A case study will show you the process of verifying or disproving the family story using census records, passenger lists, and several other resources.
You will learn about famly lore from Scandinavia.
